We help support underserved communities across the UK to access the food and other household essentials they need.
With the cost-of-living crisis, more and more people are forced to use food banks. Food banks provided almost 1.3 million emergency food parcels in the Trussell Trust network between April and September 2022, and in the six months preceding November 2022, 320,000 people were forced to turn to food banks for the first time.
Alongside the standard food parcel, food banks try to provide other essential non-food items as many families now struggle to afford basic hygiene essentials such as toilet rolls, washing up liquid and laundry detergent. That’s why Andron’s Aberdeen-based team regularly donate household essentials on behalf of Andron to Aberdeenshire North Food Bank, with the most recent donation totalling over 146kg.
“Just a quick email to acknowledge with sincere gratitude the very generous donation (146.15 kg worth!) of cleaning products, kitchen roll and toilet paper which you brought up to the warehouse this morning. While everyone we support is obviously most in need of food because they are living in food poverty, I know from comments made when delivering a parcel to clients how much people appreciate getting the additional toiletries and cleaning products that we can give out alongside the food.
We are so grateful that you and your company are so community minded and prepared to help those who need a little bit of help from a food bank at a difficult time in their family’s life.
The Trussel Trust website lists the non-food items that food banks generally need the most; however, please always check with your local food bank before donating to see what supplies they need most.
