Andron are pleased to announce that, in partnership with the homelessness charity Social Bite, we have recruited and subsequently placed an employee from Social Bite’s Academy programme at one of our sites in Glasgow.
Social Bite aims to give people who have been affected by homelessness the chance to get back on their feet, by using housing solutions and supportive employment to re-integrate individuals into society and build an independent life.
The Social Bite Academy supports people affected by homelessness into employment, providing a purposeful platform for individuals to transform their own lives. Academy members would otherwise face insurmountable barriers to work. The charity provides a highly supportive system and a real commercial environment where people can re-engage with work or, in many cases, start working for the first time.
Andron is working with the charity to employ staff who have been through the Social Bite Academy and help them to continue their positive transition to sustained, full-time employment.
Cheryl Stewart, Sales Director: “As a company who strives to operate responsibly, we are always on the lookout for ways in which we can give back to our local communities. Employment can be incredibly transformative, and this new initiative gives us the opportunity to really make a difference to people’s lives. It also gives me great pleasure to announce that our new team member has settled into their role well after being inducted to the building and meeting the team. We look forward to monitoring their progress and providing ongoing support in any way we can”.
Ewain Black, Social Bite Project Co-Ordinator for Glasgow: “Andron has been a great supporter of Social Bite across all areas of the charity. It’s fantastic to see the organisation taking this next step to provide employment opportunities to people who remain the furthest away from the employment market, and in the current climate may struggle even more. It’s even better to know the individual who’s taken the position has settled in well and has the support needed to succeed in the role. Social Bite is soon to expand our supportive employment programme. We look forward to Andron being a part of this and continuing to facilitate transformational supported employment.”
Working in partnership with Social Bite, Andron is aiming to provide employment for up to 6 individuals who have been affected by homelessness in 2021. For more information about Andron’s sustainability initiatives, click here.
