To ensure our clients continue to receive the most sustainable cleaning solutions, we have partnered with our consumable and janitorial supplier, Bunzl, to introduce the Cleanworks ProEco floor pads to our operations, reducing demand for 1.8 tons of virgin plastic production.
As part of the new project, Andron will replace all end-of-life standard floor pads within our customers’ spaces with the new recycled Cleanworks ProEco range. Once completed, this initiative will reduce the demand for 1.8 tons of virgin plastic and divert approximately 184,730 plastic bottles from landfill.
The Cleanworks ProEco floor pad range is made entirely out of recycled PET plastic bottle material, drastically reducing the number of plastic bottles that could end up in landfill. In addition to their eco-friendly composition, the Cleanworks ProEco range is treated with antimicrobial agents, effectively inhibiting bacteria growth. Combined with Andron’s energy-efficient equipment, this feature enhances cleanliness and hygiene within facilities, making it an ideal choice for sensitive environments. Moreover, these floor pads exhibit exceptional durability and resistance to degradation, ensuring an extended lifespan and reducing replacement costs. Furthermore, the Cleanworks ProEco range has obtained Green Seal approval, a prestigious certification recognising sustainable and environmentally friendly products. Even the outer packaging is constructed from cardboard and is fully recyclable, reinforcing Andron’s dedication to sustainability throughout the product lifecycle.
This announcement builds on an existing initiative from Andron to move away from single-use plastics and towards more recyclable, reusable and climate-friendly products. For example, Andron’s range of 100% organic, chemical-free cleaning products is now part of a closed-loop system. The products are packaged in 5-litre containers made from 100% recycled material and, once empty, are collected from the site by Bunzl, refilled and returned to be reused by Andron’s cleaning team.
Paul Orru, Operations Director of Andron, said this initiative demonstrates that Andron is proactively reducing the environmental impact of its services by collaborating with its supply chain and thinking innovatively.
“Andron is renowned for providing bespoke solutions built around our client’s needs, and it is no different when it comes to supporting their sustainability goals. We provide our services to over 900 sites UK-wide, and the products we use, from floor pads to cleaning products, play a critical role in the customer experience, so we always aim to use the most sustainable and environmental options available.
“More and more of our customers want to understand the environmental impacts of the products we use within their buildings, and initiatives like these assure our customers that we are doing everything we can to reduce our collective impact on the planet and keep single-use plastic out of their spaces.”
With Bunzl’s support, Andron looks forward to introducing new, more sustainable products into its service offering, achieving joint ESG goals and reducing costs and the volume of products used, resulting in greater efficiencies. We truly believe small steps can make a big difference in sustainability.
