Here at Andron, we take pride in being a family-owned and managed company, and part of being a family means looking out for each other during difficult times. Now more than ever, this sentiment rings true. The devastating effects of the COVID-19 outbreak are being felt around the UK, and we are happy to be able to support some incredible organisations in their efforts to help those in need.
Social Bite
Social Bite operates 5 social enterprise cafes throughout Scotland, providing free food to those in need and offering disadvantaged individuals the chance of employment – a third of their workforce has struggled with homelessness.
Following the COVID-19 outbreak, Social Bite have temporarily repurposed their business model and instead now produce and deliver food and essentials packs across Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Initially they planned to deliver 3,000 packs a day, however as the crisis has continued, demand for their services has soared and they are now delivering 4,000 packs daily.
Having supported Social Bite in the past, we are thrilled to continue to support their incredible work in the form of a donation. This will go directly towards helping homeless people, those that have been made redundant as a result of COVID-19 and families who now no longer have access to free school meals for their children.
Cash for Kids
Cash for Kids is a charity set up to help disadvantaged children in the UK reach their full potential. It is supported by a network of radio stations in 22 different areas of the country that run a variety of fundraising events both on and off-air. In 2019 alone, the Cash for Kids initiative raised £20.9 million to help 1 million children and young people suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who need extra care and guidance.
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, they have started an appeal which aims to support the children of vulnerable families on low incomes. We have previously partnered with Cash for Kids during their Christmas appeal and we are pleased to be able to support them once again in the form of a donation. This will go towards covering basic essentials including food and heating bills and helping children who would typically get free school meals.
