We are delighted to announce that William Cormie; our well-loved groundskeeper at Clyde Shopping Centre; has taken home the Property Management All-Stars National “Unsung Hero” Award. William was accompanied to the awards ceremony held at The Grosvenor Hotel in London earlier this month, by our Operations Director, Paul Orru and Clyde Shopping Centre Manager, Andrew Forrester. Willie was shortlisted alongside 7 others but ended up winning over the judges with his incredible story.
The Unsung Hero award is given to an outstanding individual on the frontline of delivery, whose voice may not be often heard or who may often not be seen. From chefs, gardeners, cleaners, concierges, receptionists and other frontline staff, this accolade is for an exceptional colleague who goes an extra mile to make properties a better place.
William, who is 73 years old and known to his colleagues as “Oor Wullie”, was nominated by his colleagues for his hard work and dedication to Clyde Shopping Centre. Williams’ commitment to his role is unrivalled and simply inspirational, showcased by the fact that for the first 15 years at Clyde (and unbeknown to the centre management), he walked 8 miles to work every Sunday for his shift which started at 6 am and was never once late.
William, who has now worked at Clyde for over 18 years, has been instrumental in assisting the Centre to achieve their overarching environmental and sustainability goals and as a result, the Centre has won a number of prestigious awards over the years including numerous Green Apple awards.
Andrew Forrester, Clyde Centre Manager had this to say about William:
“They just don’t make them like William anymore and it was so special to be able to watch Willie win an accolade that he absolutely deserves. He is a very humble unassuming man, but I know that this means the world to him and his family and is such a fitting way to mark the legacy that he will undoubtedly leave at Clyde.”
Huge Congratulations to William, we are proud to have you as part of our Team!
