At Andron, valuing and supporting our employees is at the heart of who we are. We proudly hold the status of a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer, highlighting our ongoing commitment to recruiting, retaining, and developing disabled employees. Through inclusive practices and workplace adjustments, we ensure that every individual can thrive in their role and contribute to our team’s success.
The Disability Confident Employer initiatives we have implemented to achieve our level 2 status include:
Able Futures and Access to Work
Access to Work helps our employees remain in their roles and supports their return to the workplace if they have a physical or mental health condition or disability. Our partnership with the UK governments Able Futures programme also allows us to support employees’ mental health by offering nine months of confidential, no-cost advice, and guidance from mental health professionals for those in work or eligible for Access to Work.
Unconscious bias training
We are dedicated to promoting inclusivity and combating bias across our organisation. To support this commitment, all account management staff undergo unconscious bias training. This training equips our teams to recognise and address any unconscious prejudices, ensuring fair treatment in recruitment and daily interactions, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
Reasonable adjustments
We are committed to providing reasonable adjustments based on individual needs, which may include:
• Flexible working hours or shift patterns.
• Providing specialised equipment, such as lighter vacuum cleaners for employees who struggle with heavier machinery.
• Modifying tasks to reduce physical strain, such as limiting the need for stretching or other exertions.
Occupational Health Referrals
In cases where further support is needed, we arrange Occupational Health assessments to ensure the right guidance and accommodations are in place for our employees.
Inclusivity in recruitment
All staff involved in recruitment receive regular training on diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment throughout the employment journey. We are committed to giving full and fair consideration to disabled individuals, recognising their aptitudes and abilities.
Equality and diversity
Our equality and diversity policy reinforces our zero-tolerance stance on bullying, discrimination, and harassment while actively encouraging allyship. We also conduct an Equality and Diversity survey to better understand our workforce’s makeup and identify opportunities for improvement. Fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace is a priority for us.
Mental Health First Aiders
To support employees who face mental health challenges, we offer a range of resources, including the well-being section on our MyAndron app. This section is filled with helpful tips and tools and allows employees to easily schedule confidential counselling sessions with our dedicated Mental Health First Aiders.
Becoming a Level 3 Disability Confident Leader
Our plans include progressing to Level 3 Disability Confident Leader. This will position us as champions of disability inclusion, not only within our organisation but across the wider business community. Stay tuned for updates as we continue this journey, and be sure to follow our progress as we work to create a more inclusive future for all.
