Every month, we hear countless stories of Andron colleagues who go the extra mile to improve customers’ lives when our colleagues and clients take the time to recognise selfless acts through Andron’s reward and recognition schemes. Today, we’re recognising Taqueer Dhamial, Guest Services Officer at Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, who received Andron’s Making a Difference Award, when he stepped up to help a customer in need.
An Incredible Act of Kindness
Taqueer, who has been with Andron for just over eight months, was on his usual patrol in the centre when a 90-year-old woman approached him after losing her handbag, leaving her with no cards or cash.
Taqueer sprang into action and helped her look for her bag – asking all the right questions, retracing her steps, and looking at receipts to understand where she had been and what time. Taqueer then radioed to the control room to review footage based on the information given. After reviewing the footage, it was clear the customer had her bag stolen.
“The customer was highly distressed, and I could not bear the thought of her with no money to get home. She did not know how to cancel her cards either.”
Always one to go the extra mile for customers, Taqueer escorted the customer to her local bank to cancel her cards and then arranged for a taxi to take her home.
It is understood that the customer later went to the Police station to report the theft and praised Taqueer for how well he looked after her. So much so the Police rang the control room shortly after to let centre management know how grateful she was.
“I just think if that were my mum, I would hope someone would do the same and help her.”
Thank you, Taqueer, for going the extra mile and making a difference every day. It shows that in these difficult times, acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, can make a massive difference in the lives of others.
